Uber and Lime partner to offer £5,000 worth of takeaway to get more people cycling

In an unusual campaign, Uber has partnered with shared transport platform Lime to offer £5000 worth of takeaway to one London cyclist. 

While attempting to get more people cycling in the capital, Uber and Lime will offer free Uber Eats deliveries for one month (up to £5,000) to the person who can cycle the most miles on a Lime e-bike in January. 

This new ‘fitness initiative’ is designed to encourage Londoners to get fit and healthy by riding shared bikes in order to win free takeaways. 

Lime bikes, which are available across London, cost £1 to unlock and then 15p per minute to ride, offering a sustainable, active and affordable transport option. 

Alan Clarke, senior director of policy at Lime UKI & Nordics, said: “Our e-bikes are a great option for people looking to make 2022 the year they focus on not only on their physical health and wellbeing, but cutting down their carbon footprint too. Uber customers can level up to meet their January goals, whether they are popping to the shops, commuting to work or visiting friends.” 

While Uber Eats is often associated with fast food delivery, the brand was eager to point out that there are healthy options on offer for delivery, including Leon, Itsu and Yo! Sushi. 

The competition is open to anyone over the age of 18 with an active rider account with Uber and will run from midnight on January 13 and close at 11.59pm on February 13. 

A winner will be given Uber Eats credit to be used within one month, up to the value of £5,000.  

Lime currently operates in 200 cities across five continents, offering shared e-bike and e-scooters.

It’s e-bike scheme has been in operation in London for three years and has delivered more than 4 million journeys so far, the brand said.
