News from Berlin and Shanghai comes in the form of a significant milestone for micromobility business, Lemmo, announcing a strategic technology partnership with pioneering EV brand, Nio, with the launch of its Lemmo Zero dual-mode smart folding e+ bike.
The announcement, shared by Lemmo co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer, Frank Aldorf, points out that “Together, we’re reimagining what new mobility can look like — smarter, more integrated, more flexible and truly hybrid”.
Speaking about the partnership, Aldorf continues: “What started as a bold idea not too long ago is now becoming real: It’s our first major step into Asia — and we’re doing it through the front door. I’ve always believed that meaningful innovation comes from real integration — not just co-branding. Powered by substance, not slogans”.
The news comes as the brand launches its latest innovation, the Lemmo Zero – a foldable, hybrid e+bike. As part of the partnership, this will initially be “available exclusively for Nio customers in China”.
The Lemmo Zero dual-mode smart folding e+ bike marks Lemmo’s official entry into the Chinese market, aiming to bring more advanced and intelligent mobility solutions to a broader audience and accelerate the widespread adoption of healthier, more sustainable 4+2 smart mobility.
The European version and the Nio collaboration edition of this smart folding e+bike are expected to officially launch later in June, along with a full reveal of its upgraded features and performance.
The European model will be available for purchase on lemmofuture.com, while the Nio edition will be sold on the Nio Life platform.
Speaking about the partnership, Aldorf adds: “Our vehicle and modular E+ Technology are deeply embedded into their product ecosystem. It was unveiled on the big stage at Nio’s cutting-edge production hub in Hefei, alongside their new flagship model, the ET5T.”
At launch, the Berlin-based business points out that “this is more than a product collaboration. It’s a shared belief in design, technology, and sustainability. It’s about shaping the future of intelligent mobility — compact, connected, and built around real human needs. This partnership is proof of what’s possible when two innovation-driven teams come together with real purpose. Huge thanks to William Li and all our friends at Nio.”
Aldorf concludes: “To see an emerging light electric mobility company from Berlin — like us — team up with one of the global leaders in electric vehicles is not something we take for granted. It speaks to the incredible work of our team at Lemmo, who delivered this in record time with relentless dedication, speed, and vision. And with that, Lemmo goes global. This is only the beginning.”
The announcement points to this as a “4 wheels + 2 wheels” 4+2 smart mobility ecosystem, where owners can easily switch between EV and e-bike, enabling people to explore with more freedom and flexibility, offering a more convenient and enjoyable, seamless, travel and leisure experience.
Lemmo’s brand vision is to reshape traditional short-distance travel through electric, intelligent, and sustainable design, creating an entirely new product category and ecosystem. Focused on users who seek a flexible and free lifestyle, Lemmo delivers premium experiences starting with lightweight two-wheel mobility.
Stand out features
The company has pioneered what it calls an “E Plus” modular platform that “separates the bike frame and electric components”, combining the best of traditional bicycles and e-bikes to create a new dual-mode E+ Bike category. This innovation has already earned the business a Red Dot: Best of the Best Award.
The bike’s size is said to be “over 20% smaller than traditional folding e-bikes” and includes a custom-built storage system, allowing it to roll seamlessly into the trunk of the new Nio ET5T—achieving true vehicle-and-e-bike integration.
Deep integration with the in-car system means the Lemmo Zero has an automatic synchronisation of ride data and battery status.
