Unagi Scooters opens second US store as sales boom

US e-scooter manufacturer Unagi has opened a new retail storefront in Brooklyn.

This is the second store the company has opened in the past few weeks, after opening its first in Los Angeles last month.

The New York streetscape has changed “dramatically” in 2020, with more people embracing e-scooters, e-bikes and bicycles. Unagi’s sales in New York City quadrupled between the first and second quarter this year and sales in Q2 were up 549% compared with the same period in 2019.

People can purchase a scooter in the new store or try Unagi’s All-Access subscription service. New York is one of just two cities where the company offers this service, which enables people to get an electric scooter for less than $10 a week.

The new store is located at 324 Wythe Avenue.
