Following a successful tender, nextbike GmbH is taking over the existing VéloCité bike rental system in the French city of Mulhouse.
The Leipzig-based company is now “providing a new, modern fleet of 300 e-bikes and continues to offer people in the region a flexible and sustainable mobility solution”.
At the start, bikes will be available at 26 stations, mainly in Mulhouse. By June 2025, the network will grow to 64 locations in the neighbouring towns of Rixheim, Illzach, Kingersheim, Riedisheim, Sausheim, Wittenheim and Brunstatt-Didenheim. An expansion to more than 640 bikes is also planned.
Mulhouse boosts sustainable mobility with a new e-bike fleet.
Mulhouse is modernizing its bike-sharing service and making it even more attractive and accessible for residents and visitors with a new e-bike fleet.
The expansion of the system with additional stations improves the connection to public transport and promotes environmentally friendly transportation in the city and surrounding municipalities.
With this development, Mulhouse – “located at the crossroads of 3 countries: France, Germany and Switzerland” – is reducing motorized private transport and sending a clear signal for innovation and sustainable urban development.
The city is actively driving the transition to climate-friendly mobility and establishing modern, flexible transportation solutions for a more liveable city centre.
nextbike expands its range
Mulhouse plays a central role in nextbike’s international expansion. The city in the Grand Est region, close to the Swiss and German borders, offers a strategic location for the development of sustainable mobility.
With the introduction of nextbike, Mulhouse is strengthening its innovative transportation concept and promoting more environmentally friendly urban mobility.
