Lime partners with pub business to offer sustainable way for staff to travel

Micromobility operator Lime has partnered with pub and hotel business Fuller’s to offer staff a sustainable option for commuting. 

US-based shared transport operator Lime will be offering Fuller’s London-based staff a 50% discount on all e-bike and e-scooter riders, to help hospitality workers travel safely and sustainably.

The announcement follows a recent report that almost half of women (49%) don’t feel safe when walking alone after dark. 

Georgia Corr, public policy manager for Lime UK, said: “At Lime, we know how important is it for those working late shifts to have multiple options to travel home after work, particularly as it begins to get darker earlier at this time of year, and we believe it is important to help where we can. Our partnership with Fuller’s will ensure that workers at all Fuller’s pubs and hotels in central London have access to an extra affordable and sustainable alternative travel option to get home safely at night or to quickly connect them with other public transport options. We are always looking for ways to make sustainable travel more accessible, and offering our services at a reduced rate to workers helps to ease their travel to and from work.”

Lime said that with hospitality workers often working after dark, this new partnership offers another option for Fuller’s team members to access a safe way to travel home or connect to public transport networks, particularly after finishing late shifts. In light of the UK’s current cost of living crisis, it also aims to provide an additional extra affordable travel option, as well as an opportunity to get more people cycling.  

Dawn Browne, people and talent director at Fuller’s said: “It’s our people that make the difference and this partnership with Lime is just another way for us to help make it safer for our team members to get home. It’s a great fit for us – it helps our teams financially too and we know that a number of our team members are already using bikes for hire as a method of commuting. I know this is going to be very popular.”

Lime and Fullers’ partnership was made possible following an introduction by the Women’s Night Safety Charter – a charter designed to make London a city where all women feel confident and welcome at night – of which both companies are signatories.

It forms part of Lime’s commitment to improve women’s safety, and get more women cycling in London. With women making up just 39% of cyclists in the capital, Lime hopes the partnership will help encourage more women to not only cycle, but feel safer on the streets.

Amy Lamé, London’s Night Czar, said: “All women and girls should feel safe travelling, working or going out at night in our city, and we all have a part to play to ensure that is the case. We created the Women’s Night Safety Charter to bring organisations together to prioritise women’s safety at night, and I’m delighted that this partnership will provide another travel option for hospitality workers when they finish working late at night.”

Lime’s discount will be available across all e-scooters and e-bikes for 2,000 of Fuller’s hospitality staff, which includes managers, bartenders, waiters/waitresses, working at any of its London pubs in Lime’s service zone.
