Blue Duck looks to continued growth in 2021 as micromobility demand increases in smaller US cities

San Antonio-based micromobility company Blue Duck is looking to continued growth in 2021, strengthening relationships with a growing number of customers and partners as demand continues to rise in smaller metropolitan areas for affordable, eco-friendly micromobility services.

Blue Duck provides electric scooters and e-bikes in cities throughout Texas and the southeastern US with a ‘Southern-style’ approach built on collaborative partnerships with residents, businesses and municipal leaders. The company develops one-on-one relationships with stakeholders in small- to mid-size cities and college towns, integrating its service into communities.

“Beginning with our very first contact, city leaders and stakeholders know that Blue Duck is committed to being a responsible partner,” said Megan McNamara, Blue Duck’s senior director of partnerships. “We tailor our services to the specific needs of every community, and then work with our partners in an ongoing relationship to ensure their residents and visitors enjoy the full benefits of the micromobility revolution.”

Bradley Ford, deputy city manager of Waco, Texas, added: “Blue Duck has responded to the city’s goals for shared mobility, including ensuring appropriate parking regulations, maintenance standards, and an equitable pricing structure.”

Last year, Blue Duck began working with Wunder Mobility to support its back-end operations. The Blue Duck app relies on the technology platform from Wunder Mobility, which also provides Blue Duck with a custom back-end and front-end as well as integrations and customisations to better optimise and grow its business model.

“In just a few months, Wunder Mobility has become an invaluable extension of our team, not only powering our service platform around the clock but also providing invaluable data and guidance about our business that we rely on as we expand,” said Blue Duck CIO Andre Champagne.

“With our technology needs in such good hands, we’re able to fully devote ourselves to strengthening our relationships with our partners and providing the best-in-class service and operations that Blue Duck is known for.”

Melika Jahangiri, Wunder Mobility’s vice president of global key accounts and head of Americas, added: “While 2020 was challenging for all of us, Blue Duck enjoyed a dynamic year by engaging with cities and other partners in a collaborative, cooperative and sustainable way. We expect that success to continue.

“We’re proud to work alongside such a visionary business that’s extending the benefits of micromobility to thousands of new customers every year, which goes hand in hand with our shared vision for mobility.”
