Berlin-based full-service mobility provider Cycle has acquired the Dutch market leader for electric delivery bicycles, Ebike4Delivery.
This strategic acquisition has been completed to strengthen Cycle’s position as a leading provider of e-bike fleets for the delivery industry in Europe.
The transaction includes the acquisition of the team, bicycles, and leasing contracts. The Ebike4Delivery brand, as well as its services and production in Nijmegen, will remain unchanged.
Ebike4Delivery’s founding team will support the transition process in an advisory capacity.
Frans Brittijn, one of the company’s longest-serving employees, will become the new managing director of Ebike4Delivery and also takes on the role of sales director at Cycle.
Luis Orsini-Rosenberg, co-founder and CEO of Cycle, commented: “Ebike4Delivery has always been a company we looked up to and admired. The quality of their hardware, strong market position, customer trust, and cost-efficient operations impressed us.
“We are excited to collaborate, learn from each other, and strengthen our position as Europe’s market leader in commercial last-mile transport solutions.”
Ebike4Delivery first entered the delivery market in 2014, and it’s best-known for its Netherlands-produced e-bikes.
Customers include major delivery chains such as Domino’s Pizza, Taco Mundo, Pizza Hut, and New York Pizza.
Since its founding in 2018, Cycle has expanded its full-service e-bike subscription model to 85 cities in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, and Austria.
The Berlin-based start-up serves large corporate clients like Flink or Just Eat Takeaway as well as individual couriers.
Cycle relies exclusively on its own mechanics to ensure service and maximum uptime.
The company has raised more than 20 million euros from notable investors, including Scania Growth Capital, EnBW New Ventures, LocalGlobe, and Visionaries Club.
In the first months following the acquisition, Cycle and Ebike4Delivery will continue to operate independently to maintain smooth operations and customer service.
Subsequently, the companies plan to merge expertise in maintenance, procurement, sales, software, and product development.
The strategic alliance aims to increase operational efficiencies, reduce costs, and drive joint innovation.
Looking forward, customers can look forward to an expanded product range and improved support. This partnership also lays the foundation for sustainable growth and the exploration of new markets.
Brittijn, new managing director of Ebike4Delivery, added: “This acquisition is a significant milestone and opens new doors for growth and innovation. With Cycle’s extensive service network and resources, Ebike4Delivery will be able to expand its product portfolio and enter new markets more quickly and cost-effectively.
“We are now better positioned to meet the changing needs of our customers and strengthen our market position. We look forward to a successful future with Cycle and the team.”
