Dutch cargo bike manufacturer Urban Arrow has partnered with Comodule, the IoT provider for mobility, to equip its range of electric cargo bikes with connectivity.
To improve the user experience and prevent bike theft, Urban Arrow riders can access smart features via an app.
Comodule’s cellular connectivity solution enables riders to locate their vehicle in real time via GPS positioning, and receive alerts on their phone when someone is moving the e-cargo bike without permission.
In addition to security features, the riders get data about the bike’s battery status, range, and ride statistics.
All the features are accessible via the Urban Arrow app.
Riders can choose to get an already connected Urban Arrow cargo bike or they can have their existing cargo bike retrofitted with the smart solution.
The GPS solution is fully hidden and it’s not visible to thieves.

The demand for peace of mind solutions and services in micromobility is increasing.
According to Comodule’s survey, more than 60% of e-bike riders will opt for an e-bike with smart features for their next choice (Comodule’s and Spiegel Institute Survey).
Insurance providers also see the benefits of equipping e-bikes with GPS solutions, as it decreases the risk of vehicle theft and the recovery rates of stolen connected bikes are higher.
Comodule’s statistics shows that, on average, 80% of stolen e-bikes equipped with GPS are recovered.
This means better insurance rates and conditions for connected e-bikes. In some cases, insurance providers have made it mandatory for the e-bike to have GPS positioning enabled.

As part of the connected solution, Urban Arrow offers additional theft insurance, recovery service, and roadside assistance, all accessible from the Urban Arrow app.
Urban Arrow will install Comodule’s Connectivity Solution for free to all Performance Essential and Performance Plus model orders made between now and the end of the year
