Neuron Mobility, will be kicking off its fourth annual Helmet Safety Awareness Week from September 21 to 29, across Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK.
In partnership with road safety charities the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF) and the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF) in Canada, this year’s campaign, also referred to as ‘Golden Helmet Week’, will build on the operator’s continued commitment to highlight the importance of helmet use.
As part of Helmet Safety Awareness Week, Neuron is committing up to AU$100,000 globally to promote helmet use, which is the single most important piece of safety equipment to prevent serious injury in the unlikely event of an accident.
Richard Hannah, head of global operations at Neuron Mobility said: “It’s great to be running our fourth-annual Helmet Safety Awareness Week.
“Although 99.99% of all Neuron trips end safely and without incident, helmets are one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent serious injury in the unlikely event of an accident.
“Everyone should wear a helmet to protect themselves, and we want people to continue to wear them long after the campaign ends.”

It is a legal requirement to wear a helmet when riding an e-scooter in Australia and some cities across Canada, and failure to do so may result in police prosecution and heavy fines.
While not a legal requirement, helmets are also strongly advised in New Zealand and the UK.
For the duration of the week, Neuron has equipped a handful of e-scooters in each city with a golden helmet for the ‘Golden Helmet Challenge’ and those who take a ride on it will win a free trip.
Riders can use the e-scooter’s app-controlled helmet lock to release the helmet at the start of the trip.
For an extra bonus, they can also take an in-app ‘helmet selfie’ to earn credits for future rides.
Russell White, founder and chair, Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF), added: “We are delighted to continue our work with Neuron, especially partnering with them for the fourth annual Helmet Safety Awareness Week.
“It is so important that riders are educated on the riding rules, including how to ride safely and responsibly and that includes the importance of using a helmet when riding an e-scooter for their own safety and to avoid heavy fines.
“So this Helmet Safety Awareness Week, we urge all riders to Scoot Safe and remember to wear a helmet.”

Neuron’s Safety Ambassadors will be out in greater numbers at e-scooter hotspots or at ScootSafe events throughout the week to remind users of the riding rules.
The company will also be promoting helmet use and safe riding through a series of light-hearted videos on social media and rider emails, and riders will be directed to their online ScootSafe Academy for incentivised quizzes, videos and games.
Neuron has also revealed its most frequent – and safest – riders in each market.
Top in Australia is a Melbourne rider who has travelled an astounding 13,700 kilometres, in Canada 5,440 kilometres by a rider in Calgary, in New Zealand 9,760 kilometres by a rider in Christchurch, and in the UK 6,230 kilometres (or 3780 miles) by a rider in Newcastle, all without incident.
