About the role

We’re looking for an experienced mechanic to join our shop and workshop. Reporting to the Regional Enterprise Manager, you’ll drive financial performance, social impact, customer loyalty and team culture.

You’ll work well within a team of mechanics, ensure exceptional service standards, maximise workflow of customer bikes and refurbished bikes. The role is hands-on servicing and repairing bikes, supporting training and delivering excellent customer service.

You’ll balance seasonal demand, maximise profitability and help ensure continued reinvestment into the community.

About You

You bring significant cycle industry experience and strong technical knowledge, with the confidence to lead from the front in a busy workshop. You’re organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing performance, workflow and targets.

You take pride in high standards, communicate clearly with both customers and team members, and enjoy developing others, particularly supporting trainee mechanics to grow in skill and confidence.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Ensure the highest level of servicing and repairs for our customers and refurbished bikes.
  • Responsibility for the day-to-day may fall to you when the General manager is away. Opening and locking up, customer queries, complaints and mechanical expertise. 
  • Communicate effectively with the team, wider network and suppliers.
  • Keep on top of customer communications to ensure flow of bikes and income from the workshop and shop
  • Get involved with the cycle mechanic training sessions when planned with the REM.
  • Work well within a small team to ensure a positive flow of workshop jobs, bike sales and donations
  • Ensure Bike Drop actively connects and promotes within the wider network of social businesses on site – The Long Table, Kids Stuff, Home Remedy
  • Maximising profitability by closely adhering workshop targets
  • Assist in maintaining the appearance of the shop and workshop, ensuring high standards are kept
  • Work with the mechanics to meet production/labour income targets to ensure financial stability throughout the year and low season
  • Stock management maintained at appropriate levels of stock with seasonal changes identified. 
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation.
  • Maintain relationships with current suppliers, along with the ability to understand current trends, feedback is always welcome.
  • Maintain positive communications around product warranties with suppliers and internally. 
  • Positively engage with customer queries and manage complaints alongside the GM.

Salary & Hours

  • Working hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm Tuesday – Saturday

  • £26,000 – £31,000

Candidates at the higher end of the salary range will usually have: 

  • Vast industry knowledge and senior-level experience. 
  • Demonstrable success in leading workshops through periods of growth.
