Enyring and Swobbee announce partnership to power future of urban e-bike mobility

Enyring, a swappable battery service provider for e-bikes founded by Yamaha Motor, has officially partnered with Swobbee, Europe’s leading battery-swapping infrastructure provider.

As part of this collaboration, Swobbee will supply both hardware and key battery-swapping software components for Enyring’s upcoming swappable battery platform, launching in Berlin and Amsterdam later this year.

  • The partnership brings together Enyring’s vision for sustainable and seamless ebike usage with Swobbee’s proven technology and operational expertise.
  • By enabling riders to swap empty batteries for fully charged ones across a network of smart stations, the two companies aim to reshape how urban dwellers experience micromobility.

Swobbee’s modular swapping stations and reliable backend software provide the perfect foundation for delivering on our promise of unlimited range and low entry costs for ebike riders,” said Satoru Moriyama, CEO of Enyring. “This partnership allows us to hit the ground running in our target cities while ensuring a smooth and scalable user experience.”

Swobbee brings years of experience in deploying battery-swapping infrastructure across Europe, with over 100 stations installed and a growing presence in the United States, and is backed by InnoEnergy, the impact investor industrialising cleantech innovation. This is not the first time Swobbee and Yamaha have worked together: Swobbee already powers a shared e-moped rental service using Yamaha’s NEO electric scooters in Berlin.

“We are proud to deepen our relationship with Yamaha through this exciting new venture with Enyring,” said Thomas Duscha, CEO and Co-Founder of Swobbee. “Together, we’re not only building smarter cities but also setting new standards for sustainability and convenience in micromobility.”

The collaboration also highlights a shared commitment to sustainability. Enyring’s closed-loop approach, centred on extending battery lifespans and promoting reuse and recycling, aligns closely with Swobbee’s mission to reduce operational costs and environmental impact for light electric vehicle fleets.

With pilot operations set to begin in mid-2025, the partnership is poised to accelerate the rollout of swappable battery networks in some of Europe’s most bike-friendly cities.

About Swobbee

Swobbee, based in Berlin, is the European market leader in battery charging technology and swapping solutions for light electric vehicles such as electric bicycles, mopeds, scooters and cargo bikes.

With a network of over 100 stations globally, Swobbee enables sustainable, cost-effective energy access for fleets and individual users across Europe. After successfully completing a pilot program with the City of New York in 2024, Swobbee began rolling out its service in the United States earlier this year.
