Dott, the European micromobility operator, has reported an increase in use of its shared e-scooters and e-bikes in cities across Europe during 2023.
Dott’s riders were travelling further, and more frequently as shared micromobility became more of an everyday service for users.
Throughout the year, the average trip distance on its vehicles was up 8% year-on-year against 2022, reaching 2.47km per trip.
The average trip is significantly more than typically walked, equal to the distance from London’s Trafalgar Square to St Paul’s Cathedral, and lasts 11 minutes 46 seconds (+2% vs 2022) on Dott’s shared e-scooters and e-bikes.
With household finances continuing to be under pressure, people are looking for savings in their everyday spending.
Pass use surged in 2023, increasing by 50% year-on-year with over half (51%) of Dott users now taking advantage of passes to save money on more regular use. The increase shows that users are committing to using Dott’s service on a more frequent basis.
In total, more than 81 million km was travelled on Dott’s 50,000 shared e-scooters and e-bikes over the year, equivalent to over 2,000 times around the world, or over 210 trips to the moon.
The most popular time for use was between 5pm and 7pm on weekdays, as commuters return home from work or out for the evening.

Throughout 2023, Dott was awarded with competitive tender wins and renewals in major cities including Madrid, London, Rome, Tel Aviv and Lyon.
It has also completed the refurbishment of 18,000 e-scooters, as part of a refurbishment project which aims to double vehicle lifespan and cut carbon emissions by 50%.
