Bolt awarded scooter, e-bike and cargo bike licence in Milan

Bolt, one of the largest scooter operators in Europe, has been announced as one of three companies awarded the licence to operate scooters, e-bikes and cargo bikes in Milan until 2026.

As a result, more than 2,000 Bolt scooters will continue to be available in Milan, and 2,000 e-bikes and 15 cargo bikes will be added to the operator’s micromobility fleet.

Bolt has provided sustainable and affordable scooter operations in Milan since 2022, with safety as a top priority.

The operator has launched a number of features to improve safety standards, such as a cognitive reaction test to address drunk riding, a tandem riding prevention system to prevent two people riding a scooter at the same time and ambient sound, which alerts pedestrians of an approaching scooter.

To make sure its scooters use public space in the right way, Bolt will launch ParkAssist+.

The upgraded version of the AI parking system ensures that the scooter is correctly parked after the customer finishes the ride, both in terms of the scooter location and the right position.

Scooter sensors will also detect when a scooter is tilted more than 15% and suggest the rider to re-park in order to avoid the scooter falling down.

Dott are among the operators joining Bolt in Milan for the next three years, providing 2,000 e-scooters and 2,000 e-bikes in the Italian city.
